When a person is depressed they suffer from a decreased amount of serotonin in their brain. One way to help is to increase the amount of endorphins in ones body. You can do this by exercising and/or giving back to those less fortunate in a physical activity. Being active does not 'solve' depression, but it does help. Please continue therapy and medication (if prescribed).
When people work together to complete a task it forces them to communicate to each other. They not only temporarily cease thinking about their own problems, but they have the opportunity to view their loved one in a different atmosphere.
